About Moorpark, CA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Moorpark, CA is located in Southern California in Ventura County. This city has experienced significant growth since the 1970s, with a current population topping 34,000. There are several theories for how the city got its name, and some believe it was named after Moorpark Apricot, which used to grow in the area, while others believe it was named after its hills that resembled the Scottish Moors. Southern California is known for its Mediterranean climate with somewhat rainy winter months and dry, sunny summers.
Moorpark was incorporated as a city in July 1983. Moorpark College opened in 1967, and it is known for being one of the few colleges that offer a program in exotic animal training and management. This area is also known for the March 2005 find of an old mammoth, which is quite possibly the rare Southern mammoth.
The weather in Moorpark makes the city ideal for a variety of outdoor activities. A round of Golf can be played at the Tierra Rejada Golf Club or the Moorpark Country Club. Outdoor parks and play areas can be found at Poindexter Park and Miller Park, among others. Animal lovers may also enjoy visiting the Moorpark College Teaching Zoo.
