Agoura Hills, CA is a city located in Los Angeles County, CA. With a population of just over 20,000, the city sits between the Simi Hills and Santa Monica Mountains in the eastern Conejo Valley. Agoura Hills is located lest than 10 miles west of the Los Angeles City limits and 30miles northwest of Downtown Los Angeles. The area receives very little rain, with only 35 days receiving accumulation per year, and the rest of the year consists of sun and warm temperatures.
In the early 1900s, Agoura Hills was being used as a popular resting point for travelers working their way along the Camino Real because of its natural spring located at the Ladyface Mountain foothills. The city was known as Picture City in the 1920s, as Paramount Pictures used this area to film western movies. It was later renamed Agoura as a misspelling of French immigrant Pierre Agoure's last name.
There are a variety of attractions available in Agoura Hills. The Canyon Club is a lounge and drinking establishment that features live entertainment ranging from comedians to musical acts. Visitors can also tour the old Paramount Ranch, which served as the site of a variety of movie productions. Horseback riding is also popular in the area.
